A CONTEMPLATIVE IMMERSION

Yuba River Silence Retreat

GENTLE YOGA, MEDITATION, AND SACRED SILENCE

with Nicole Anami Becker

October 22-25, 2026 | Nevada City, CA

Reconnect and Restore

Slow down, unplug, and immerse yourself in the healing rhythm of silence, nature, and contemplative practices.

Nestled on a large private forest property in Northern California Gold Country, with access to the Yuba River, this intimate retreat offers a rare opportunity to step away from the noise and momentum of daily life and reconnect with the sacred, inside and out.

Through gentle yoga, guided meditations, nourishing meals, quiet reflection, and spacious time in nature, you are invited into a more grounded and restorative way of being.

Intentionally simple, supportive, and unhurried, this retreat is designed to help you replenish, physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually.

This retreat is for those who feel tired of rushing, tired of screens, tired of carrying so much mental noise — and who long for a simpler, quieter rhythm for a few precious days.

All practices are gentle, accessible, and supportive.

A different kind of retreat

This retreat is intentionally spacious — not a packed schedule of workshops or constant activity.  There is nothing to achieve here. No pressure to be social, insightful, or productive.

You are invited simply to arrive as you are.

The rhythm of the day flows naturally between group sessions and personal time. After a gentle yoga and meditation session you might find yourself eating a nourish meal without distraction, napping in a hammock, wandering river trails, reading beneath the trees, or simply sitting quietly with tea on a cozy couch.

As you soften into retreat, the lessons and practices shared through the day have a chance to deepen, and you begin to feel more present, and connected.

This retreat is especially supportive for those working with stress, life-transition, caregiving, burnout, grief, or inner change — or for anyone longing to reconnect with themselves.

Nourishing Quiet

This is a largely silent retreat, meaning participants refrain from casual conversation outside of scheduled group sessions.

But the feeling is more “quiet sanctuary” than strict monastery.

In the many traditions, periods of silence and reduced stimulation are considered essential because they allow the body and mind to redirect energy toward restoration.

We often don’t realize how much energy is spent talking, reacting, performing socially, and repeating familiar stories about ourselves.

In the simplicity of silence, nature, and contemplative practice,  people notice that the mind becomes less crowded, and the senses become more vivid. There is more space to soften, reconnect, listen, and just be.

Immersion in simplicity, contemplative practice, and silence in nature can create the feeling of stepping outside of ordinary time.

Meals are held in silence and participants are asked to unplug from phones during the retreat.

One year, a participant almost canceled after realizing the retreat was mostly silent because she felt so nervous about not talking for a weekend. By the closing circle she was laughing and saying, “It was so nice not getting to know any of you!”

Again and again, participants discover that silence is not lonely or intimidating, but deeply refreshing.

You will be supported throughout the entire experience.

Retreat Practices

Each day includes group sessions with Nicole that may incorporate:

  • gentle and restorative yoga

  • guided relaxation and meditation

  • reflection and self-enquiry

  • outdoor meditation and nature practice

  • elemental or seasonal ritual

Every retreat unfolds a little differently depending on the season, the environment, and the needs of the group.

The emphasis is always on accessibility, nervous system restoration, inner listening, and meaningful connection to the deeper heart.

This retreat is an opportunity not only to rest, but to experience the essence of a more contemplative and grounded yogic lifestyle — one rooted in presence, simplicity, awareness, and attunement to nature.

Drawing from nearly two decades of teaching experience, Nicole creates an environment that is kind, accessible, restorative, and deeply attuned to the whole person.

Retreat Testimonials

"The silent yoga retreat was beyond words. Whatever I choose to say about it would simply be not enough to convey the impact this wonderful experience had on my soul. To slow down, to reflect, to sleep, to meditate, to do yoga, to breathe, to watch a bird go by, to see that glorious sunsets and to have you lead the way was soul filling and mesmerizing. Being with you was a gift. Your guidance, your voice, your energy is so lovely. The whole experience resonated in the most beautiful way. Thank you for this experience."

Nourishing Meals

Retreat meals are lovingly prepared by Chef Kaori Stuessy, who brings together her Japanese roots, seasonal whole foods, offering simple beauty, vibrant flavor, and deep nourishment.

Guests will enjoy three fresh, Ayurvedically-inspired vegetarian meals each day designed to support grounding, restoration, clarity, and ease throughout the retreat experience.

Meals are thoughtfully prepared using as many organic and locally sourced ingredients as possible, drawing from the abundance of Nevada County farmers, ranchers, and producers.

All dietary needs and food sensitivities can be accommodated.

Most meals will be enjoyed in silence, allowing guests to slow down, savor more deeply, and experience the often-overlooked nourishment of quiet presence. Depending on the flow of the retreat, Nicole may choose to include an opening or closing meal with gentle guided conversation or a shared contemplative experience.
